As part of learning the double diamond design framework, I learnt to sketch with Hans Kim; sketching for prototyping, focusing on how to think and show for ideation.

During the workshop we we took 7 mins to explore designs on an object, the first being a bottle and the second being a lamp. Particularly, we were able to sketch different shapes, sizes, contexts and storyboards which gave my design a great direction to go. If I had not attended this training, it may not have occurred to me that sketching can be so simple yet coherent.

As homework, we were tasked to design a chair with a longer time limit, with this image as a reference. I ended up creating an abstract but fun chair design for indoor and outdoor use.

Sketching with an intention for ideating can refine my thought processes to explore ideas in further depth and a more concentrated direction. It is an irreplaceable skill for my design career.
